Maserati MC12 Corsa

The MC12 Corsa has been developed from the MC12 GT1 type which won the 2005 FIA GT Manufacturers Cup, and will allow its owners to test their driving capability in the most exclusive gentlemen drivers’ environment. It will be used exclusively on track during private test sessions - or exhibition activities organised by Maserati. It will not be homologated for road use or for any racing activities.
More than a year after the limited production run of the MC12, Maserati took the wraps of its $1.7 million supercar, a new track-only version of the World Championship-winning Maserati MC12 called the Corsa, sold only be sold to valued Maserati customers who will be restricted to using their new supercar on private track days.
“This is a unique opportunity to own a car that is the reigning GT World Champion,” says Edward Butler, General Manager for Maserati in Australia and New Zealand. “The world-beating racing car was developed from the Maserati MC12 road car and the Corsa is derived directly from the GT1 racing car exclusively for track use. It will not be homologated for road use.”
"The MC12 Corsa has been developed in response to the customer demand to own the MC12 racing car and fuelled by the growth in track days, where owners can drive their cars at high speeds in the safety of a race track without the obvious constraints of normal road use,” says Mr Butler. “Without doubt the MC12 Corsa is the ultimate track day car!”
The 564 kW MC12 Corsa has been developed from the MC12 GT1 which won the 2005 FIA GT Manufacturers Cup. It will be used exclusively on track during private test sessions and exhibition activities organised by Maserati. It will not be homologated for road use or for any racing activity.

Inspired by the fastest airplanes

The present day Lamborghini models are distinguished by the clear language of their shape. The coherent proportions of the Murciélago and Gallardo highlight their power and dynamism. Sharp edges, precise lines and clean surfaces: these are ingredients of a style reduced to the essential. Each element is created exactly according to its function; ornaments and decorations are totally foreign to a Lamborghini.

With the Reventón the Centro Stile designers have coherently developed this philosophy, inspired by another sphere where speed and dynamism reign absolute: modern aeronautics, responsible for the fastest and most agile airplanes in the world. This has created an extremely precise, technically striking style with a new vitality: interrupted lines and contorted surfaces create a fascinating play of light, giving the car incredible movement.

Lamborghini Reventon

The Lamborghini Reventón is a supercar that debuted at the 2007 Frankfurt Auto Show. It is said to be the most powerful and expensive Lamborghini to date, costing one million euros. The official press release states that only 20 will be built, but it was later reported that the total number would be 100. The exterior styling was inspired by the F-22 Raptor. Although the exterior is all new, most of the mechanics (including the engine) are taken directly from the Murciélago LP640.

Initial reports suggest that the 6.5 litre V12 may receive a power boost of approximately 15 kilowatts (20 horsepower), bringing the new ouput close to 490 kW (660 horsepower). In spite of this, and the car's carbon fibre components, the Reventón accelerates to 100 KPH (62 MPH) in the same time as the Murciélago LP640 (3.4 seconds

BENTLEY CONTINENTAL

Two doors, but the Bentley Continental, like the open-topped Azure, is a full four-seater with the comfort of a saloon. It can be driven about town at a quietly civilized pace, but on an open road the Bentley Continental confidently shows off its ability to deliver performance to make your heart thump with excitement. The powerful combination of 400 bhp (299.6 kW/406PS) from its turbocharged, 6.75-litre, V8 engine and a chassis and drivetrain of tremendous agility puts the Bentley Continental firmly in the class of sporting coupés with a 0-60mph/time of 6.0 seconds. But the huge torque, or pulling power of the Bentley's engine, is measured at 590 lb·ft (800Nm), and those figures put it in a class of its own. While other sports cars can perhaps come close on speed, none can match the Bentley's combination of power and huge torque.

The VX220 has been setting pulses racing since it was launched back in 2000, it’s fast, stylish and tremendous fun… and now there’s a new addition to the line-up.
Released under the banner of Vauxhall’s new performance brand, VXR, the latest VX is faster, sleeker and even more insanely grin-inducing than the standard version, in fact, the VXR220 is set to be one of the best drives on the road.
Based on the VX220 everyone already knows and loves, VXR220 features the 2.0 litre turbo engine with a power upgrade to 220 bhp, thanks to a free-flow air filter, a hybrid turbo and a reprogrammed ECU.
Translating this wickedly entertaining power on to the tarmac is a set of five-spoke Speedline alloys, finished in satin black and shod with Yokohama A048R tyres. Featuring a dynamic mix of 195/45R16s at the front and 225/35R17s at the back, the VXR220 sticks to the road perfectly, making the most of its nimble agility.
This all works together to ensure the most engaging driving VX yet. Performance figures back this up with a spectacular sprint time to 60 mph from standstill in a breathtakingly fast 4.2 seconds and a top speed in excess of 150 mph.
But VXR isn’t just about going fast, it’s about enjoying the ride… which is why the VXR220 has uprated and lowered springs, and uprated dampers. And because going fast brings the importance of stopping to the front of the mind, the VXR220 is kept under control by vented and cross-drilled brakes – 288 mm all round – with uprated brake pad material.
And VXR220 looks the part as well. With its swoopingly stylish body panels and modern, clean lines, the top-of-the-range VRX220 emanates purpose and dynamism. Available in Calypso Red only with matt black detailing on the rear spoiler, wing mirrors, windscreen surround, Vauxhall V-grille and fuel filler cap, it looks simply fearsome.
Inside, things just continue to get better with super sport seats upholstered with Alcantara and carbon fibre-effect leather trim. Meanwhile, the matt black theme continues from the outside in with matt black handbrake sleeve, gearlever gate, passenger footrest, pedals and window winders.
With looks this good and performance this impressive, customers could well begin thinking that they’ll be needing to break open their piggy banks to buy one but with a cost of just £29,995, VXR220 is a whole lot more accessible than anyone could have imagined.
On sale from 25 May there’s simply no excuse not to buy one. It’ll be worth it for the grin-per-mile factor alone.

Maybach 62 $385,250

The Maybach 57 and 62 were the first automobile models of the Maybach brand since the brand's revival by DaimlerChrysler. They are derived from the Mercedes-Benz Maybach concept car presented at the 1997 Tokyo Motorshow (which was based on the Mercedes-Benz S-Class sedan). DaimlerChrysler attempted to buy the Rolls-Royce/Bentley marque when Vickers offered the company up for sale. When this attempt failed (they were outbid by BMW and Volkswagen respectively) they introduced the Maybach as a direct challenger in 2002. Both models are variants of the same ultra-luxurious automobile. The model numbers reflect the respective lengths of the automobiles in decimetres; the 57 is more likely to be owner-driven while the longer 62 is designed with a chauffeur in mind. The engine is a Mercedes-sourced 5.5-liter twin-turbo V12, generating 550 hp.

Mercedes SLR McLaren $455,500

The Mercedes-Benz SLR McLaren is a sports car and supercar automobile co-developed by DaimlerChrysler and McLaren Cars. It is assembled at the McLaren Technology Centre in Woking, England. Dodge Viper

Dodge Viper

The

Dodge Viper

was created in 1992 and is still currently in production with the Viper SRT-10 version and the new coupe. Generation One (1992-1995) of the Viper was a styling and performance hit. The V-10 engine was originally built to be used for a truck. Lamborghini who was then a division of Dodge / Chrysler worked on the engine but could not convince Dodge to upgrade the engine from a 2 valve pushrod engine to a 4 valve "up to date" engine due to the costs. It was already fast enough!
The Generation One engine produced 400 hp (298 kW) at 4600 rpm and 450 ft·lbf (610 N·m) of torque at 3600 RPM. Some would say that Dodge spent most of the money on the V-10 engine, and they were probably right. The Generation Ones did not have power windows, power locks, air conditioning, anti lock brakes, or even glass windows; they were plastic! The car had such strong demand that there was only one goal, stuff a huge engine in it and make it fast as can be!

Generation Two (1996-2002) brought many upgrades throughout the years. Improved brakes, and anti-lock brakes finally in 2001 brought somewhat up to date an area of the car that previously seemed like it was an after-thought. By this time even cheap economy cars had anti-lock brakes and it was about time for a $70,000+ car. The engine grew bigger to 8.0 litres and 450 horsepower and went 0-60 in almost a second faster than the Generation One vipers and 22 MPH faster top speed up to now 184 MPH. There was also an ACR version which added 10 horsepower from air intake tubes and a K&N air filter. This verison was mainly for club racers as it deleted the air conditioning, radio, and fog lights to reduce weight. It also had more firm sport tuned chassis and suspension. Cabin heat from the massive engine up front was a big problem.

The GTS version was introduced in 1996 which was a hardtop only version that was very popular with club racers and eventually had a R spec factory made race car version which won Le Mans 24 Hour competition race in 1998, 1999, and 2000. Pretty impressive for a truck engine!

Dodge Viper SRT-10 Convertible

Generation Three (2003-Present) was the best performance version yet to date; the SRT-10. I've owned a red Viper SRT-10 (pictured above/below). The engine was increased to 8.3 litres (505 cubic inches) and 500 horsepower and 525 ft·lbf of torque (This was later changed to 510 horsepower when horsepower regulations were introduced. It was the same exact engine but horsepower certification said the engine was worth 510 horsepower).

Dodge Viper Engine

It has 18 inch chrome rims on the front rims with 275/35 tires and 19 inch rims on the back with 345/30 tires. Brakes were again upgraded to 14 inch Brembo brakes and was the best upgrade yet. Motor trend magazine tested the brakes and they had the best stopping distance of any car under $1,000,000 yet to date! Awesome for a car starting around $85,000. Top speed has been reported at 190mph and 0-60 times of 3.9 seconds. The exhaust pipes come out the side of the car underneath the doors which can get hot but the cabin is much cooler compared to Generation One and Two vipers. Some die-hard viper enthusiasts said that the viper lost its hard edge feel, I disagree. :)

Dodge Viper Interior

There are many easy upgrades available for vipers such as custom exhaust and air intakes that can easily add 10-50 horsepower. There are many tuners that have upgrades to 1000 horsepower via twin turbos or superchargers that can make vipers some of the fastest cars in the world.

Lamborghini Diablo $240,000

Lamborghini Diablo Roadster VT

The

Lamborghini Diablo

was built from 1990 to 2001. The early versions had a mid-mounted 5.7 litre V-12, 48 valve V12 , 492 horsepower (367 kW) and 427 foot-pounds (579 N·m) of torque. The vehicle could reach 60 mph in slightly over 4 seconds, with a top speed of 202 mph. These were remarkable stats for 1990 and still are today. The Lamborghini Diablo was one of the first production cars to reach over 200 miles per hour. The Lambo had vertical doors which started with the Lamborghini Countach. The sticker price in 1990 was a whopping $240,000.
In 1993 Lamborghini added the VT version to the lineup. VT stands for viscous-coupling type all-wheel-drive system instead of rear wheel drive. This helped handle 500+ horsepower better. The new version also had Brembo brakes and Alpine sound systems. Also in 93 Lamborghini released an SE 30 (special edition) version which became and instant collector car for years to come. The car was sold in limited numbers for their 30th anniversary. The car was more of a race car than any Lamborghini to date; it had no radio, air-conditioning, sound deadening material, and had carbon fiber seats. This reduced the cars weight considerably. Also it did not have the VT's all wheel drive which reduced even more weight. Horsepower was increased to 525 and top speed was a claimed 207 mph!

In 95 Lamborghini added the SV version to the lineup which was essentially a cheaper rear wheel drive version instead of all wheel drive.

In 1996 Lamborghini added the VT roadster version; essentially it had a removable hardtop to create a convertible atmosphere. Horsepower was increased to 530 and 0-60 times were under 4 seconds. In my opinion, this is the most desirable and best looking of the Diablos. Having owned a 1998 Lamborghini Diablo VT roadster (pictured above) I know this car to great detail. The roof could be removed by unlatching 2 latches in the front and 2 in the back of the roof. The roof itself was extremely light having been made of carbon fiber and made a nice look from the interior when the roof was on. After unlatching it was best to have another person help you remove the roof because of its size. The roof could be stored on top of the engine cover which was located behind the seats. I personally preferred to leave the cover at home if you knew it was not going to rain as the roof covered some of the design aspects of the car and also made the engine a little hotter by shielding more heat that was escaping the engine.
Lamborghini Diablo Roadster VT - side view with the removable roof on

In 2001 Lamborghini introduced the Diablo VT 6.0. Engine size was increased from 5.7 litres to 6.0 and horsepower was up to 550. 0-60 times were as low as 3.5 seconds. These cars were only made in hardtop, no roadsters. The Diablo went out with a bang with The millennium roadster in 2000 and the 6.0 Special Editions before being replaced with the Lamborghini Murcielago in 2002.

McLaren F1 $970,000

In 1994, the McLaren F1 was the fastest and most expensive car. Even though it was built 15 years ago, it has an unbelievable top speed of 240 mph and reaching 60 mph in 3.2 seconds. Even as of today, the McLaren F1 is still top on the list and it outperformed many other supercars.

Bugatti Veyron $1,700,000

This is by far the most expensive street legal car available on the market today. It is the fastest accelerating car reaching 0-60 in 2.6 seconds. It claims to be the fastest car with a top speed of 253 mph+. However, the title for the fastest car goes to the SSC Ultimate Aero which exceed 253 mph pushing this car to 2nd place for the fastest car.
